of the Closet: Her Side
Out
of the Closet: Her Side continues the
exploration begun in the original series entitled Out of the
Closet. The dresses in the first Out of the
Closet made visible the ideas and values about women from both the
secular
and the religious domains before the 19th century.
The dresses in Her Side were inspired by the powerful words and
art of 19th and early 20th century women about life
experienced through a woman’s body. Like
the earlier series, contemporary clothing is used because the issues
facing
women that are exposed in the alteration of the cloth are still
relevant today.
